Getting your camper ready for Camp and drop off at Camp Namanu…

Thank you for registering your camper at Camp Namanu. Our goal is to make sure that each camper has a great time at camp, and to create a worry free experience for families, too!

Drop Off Details

On the way to camp, families may choose to either drop their camper off at Namanu and watch them join their group, or send their campers on a song-filled bus ride to camp from Warner Pacific College. You can add a bus ride TO Camp by contacting our Registrar at (971) 340- 1608 or registrar@campfirecolumbia.org.  The Camp Bus leaves from Warner Pacific College in SE Portland.

Driving directions to Camp.

Checking in at Camp Namanu for HALF WEEK, FULL WEEK, RANCH CAMP and EXTENDED WEEK Families.

PLEASE NOTE: The Main Camp road is very narrow and can only accommodate one-way traffic, so we will be designating specific One-Way times into camp and exit from camp during camper arrival and departure on Check In days. If you arrive outside the designated time you will be asked to wait while we ensure there is no oncoming traffic. This wait could be up to 30 minutes. Also, please do not arrive early as our staff may not be ready to sign your camper into Camp. If you are going to Namanu Ranch Camp, staff will meet you in the Ranch parking lot and get you checked in all in one place. (Namanu Ranch Camp is located at a separate location from Main Camp. See Address below.)  If you have Campers in multiple units, please feel free to drop them off at the youngest Campers drop off time. (If your Camper is attending Camp during Session 8, 8/20-8/26, we will be sending separate information about an alternative Pick-Up location closer to your camper’s week at Camp Namanu.)

When:  Session Start Date (Sunday)
2:30-3:00pm CAMPER ARRIVAL – Camp road designated ONE-WAY into CAMP,  no camp exit during this time.
3:15-3:45 Families DEPART – Camp road designated ONE-WAY exit, no camp entry during this time.

Camper Units – Robin Hill, Kiwanis, Pioneer, Balagan, Outpost and Ranch Camp
When:  Session Start Date (Sunday)
4:00-4:30pm CAMPER ARRIVAL – Camp road designated ONE-WAY into CAMP, no camp exit during this time, besides those going to Ranch.
4:45-5:15pm Families DEPART – Camp road designated ONE-WAY exit, no camp entry during this time.

Taking the Bus to Camp Namanu for Half Week, Full Week Sessions

The Bus to Camp will leave from the Warner Pacific College parking lot on your Camper’s First Day of Camp.
Warner Pacific College: 2219 SE 68th Ave Portland, OR 97215

If your Camper is going to Camp on Sunday, please arrive no later than 2:30pm to check in. The Camp bus will LEAVE at 3pm to get to Camp Namanu.

If your Camper is going to Camp on Wednesday for a Half Session, please arrive no later than 12:45pm to check in. The Camp bus will LEAVE at 1pm to get to Camp Namanu.

Packing List

(this list is based on one full week of Camp, please adjust accordingly for shorter or extended sessions)
Limit: 1 bag/suitcase, 1 small bag/daypack, sleeping bag, pillow.
TIP Please contain all items in labelled bags when coming to camp, luggage is moved in trucks and it is easy to lose loose items.
TIP Please label as many of your campers items as you can. For example, most sleeping bags look identical.
TIP Items should not be valuable or irreplaceable.
TIP We do our best to make sure that your camper comes home with the belongings they came with, but please be sure to CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND when you pick up your camper.

Optional items: stationery, pencil/pen, stamps, pre-addressed envelopes, camera (disposable recommended), sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, one favorite stuffed animal, book, cream or roll on insect repellent (no aerosol/spray cans). If you are going to Ranch, you are welcome to bring your own riding boots. We DO have plenty of extra boots to loan while at Ranch Camp if you need to use them.

Items to leave at home:

  • Electronics – we encourage campers to stay engaged with their surroundings and have found that electronics tend to make this more difficult.
  • Cell Phones – aside from other electronics, phones and the ability to contact home can sometimes make a camper feel more homesick. When campers are having trouble with homesickness or other issues, it is best for them to tell their counselor, who can help them to find solutions at camp. If the issue persists, the Camp Director will contact parents. Cell phones MAY NOT be used as cameras.
  • Food – the cabins at Camp Namanu are rustic by design. This means that any food could invite unwanted pests into living spaces.
  • Namanu is alcohol, tobacco, and drug free – If this is a concern for you, please talk to your camper about our policy prior to camp.
  • Personal sports equipment, vehicles, animals and weapons should be left at home.

 

Pickup Info

HALF, FULL, RANCH and EXTENDED Week Camper Check Out / Camper Pick Up

If you are picking up campers who are in different Units, you may have Campers on more than one bus.

We like for Campers to ride the bus home with their new friends, so they can reflect on their time at Camp over the past week. Thanks for your patience as we wait for all of the buses to arrive.

Warner Pacific College – 2219 Southeast 68th Avenue, Portland, OR 97215

Who can check out your camper: Only previously authorized adults can pick up a camper. Adults will be required to show Photo ID. If you have any changes to who can pick your child up, please let the Camp Office Manager know during Check in, or call the Camp Office during the week your child is at camp at (503) 695-6041.

Add Ons

There’s still time to add a few extras to your camper’s registration. By signing back into your Active account, you can add a Trail Ride or an Adventure Day. Save this link as it will come in handy to make payments, print your statements, and add on any additional sessions for your camper.

Trail Rides: Sherwood and Robin Hill aged campers (4th-6th grades) can sign up for a Trail Ride. They will ride along with our Namanu Ranch Camp Staff through the forests and fields of Namanu.

Adventure Days: Campers in Pioneer (8th grade) or above can head off for one or two different off-site explorations, either white water rafting, or to Mount Hood Adventure Park.

Camp Store Purchases

Items at the Camp Store range from $1 key chains to nice, sturdy sweatshirts ($20-$40). While shopping at the camp store can be fun, it is not a mandatory part of camp, and we encourage families to send whatever they are comfortable with.

When bringing money for the store, please deposit it during check-in at our alumni store. At pickup at the end of the camp session unspent store account funds will be made available to you so don’t forget to ask at check-out. Any store funds not retrieved by September 1st will be donated to Campships.
