“Where the Breezes Blow,” the 2016 Friends of Namanu (FoN) Reunion Weekend, is in the books. Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a beautiful weekend at Namanu! It was such a busy time, so many people, so many old friends, so many new friends. What more is there to say you may ask?
We had the best attendance yet with 148 registered guests. Raker was full and reverberated with the noises of happy friends talking, laughing, singing, eating and enjoying themselves at Namanu. Be sure to check out more 2016 Reunion photos on the FoN Facebook page here.
The Grab Bags were a resounding success, with over 40 bags full of hidden treasures. The most sought after gift was the limited edition “Namanu Watch.”
The Auction had a record number of items this year at 203! What a magnificent assortment of treasurers from which to choose. Our talented members contributed many handmade items, and the bidding was fast and furious!
Many, many thanks to all the 2016 Camp Namanu Summer Staff who attended the weekend as volunteers. Their dedication and hard work helped make the weekend such a great experience. We can’t begin to thank you enough for all your efforts, and we hope to see you back again next year!
A big thank you to all the FoN who attended the weekend. Your enthusiastic participation in the event is the spirit of Namanu that FoN focuses on throughout the year. Thank you for being part of the Friends of Namanu and helping us celebrate “The Magic of Namanu.” If you’re not yet a member of the Friends of Namanu, you can sign up here.
While you are “remembering the times you had here,” don’t forget to mark your calendars for FoN Reunion Weekend 2017! Next year’s event will be over the weekend of September 7-10, which is the first weekend after Labor Day.
Upcoming Friends of Namanu Events
If you’re looking for the next volunteer opportunity to stay at Camp Namanu, don’t miss out on the November Service Weekend. This time around it will be an extended event over the Veterans Day weekend: Thursday, November 10 – Sunday, November 13. Saturday night’s dinner is our annual “Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner” that honors all Namanu volunteers. If you aren’t able to attend the entire weekend, be sure to come for dinner on Saturday night. RSVP here.
Our next Friends of Namanu meeting will also be Sunday morning of that weekend in Raker: November 13 from 10am – 12pm. Hope to see you there. It’s a chance to catch up on all of the summer activities and to help plan for this next year.
